Rear-Suspension / Tie Rods (Page 1/1)

I'm trying to source all the parts I need to get everything back together... and I want to replace the tie-rods for the rear-suspension.

For the life of me, I simply cannot find them on Rock Auto. Maybe I'm using the wrong term, or they just don't actually list them. Just so I'm clear, I'm talking about the tie rods that would normally be used to steer the car if / when these components would be located in the front, but of course are in the back of our Fiero and mounted solidly to the rear frame.

There's the long part which ties into the bracket on the subframe, and then the actual tie-rod end on the wheel hub itself. What are the terms for these on the Fiero. Are they just not available anymore?

Also... for the sake of it... I remember like over a decade ago... everyone was selling a "bump-steer" kit... or I should say a kit that resolved bump-steer. Who sold those. Was it Rodney Dickman? I can't find this kit anywhere...

Thanks guys!!!

Your looking for Rear Inner Tierods. I believe Rodney is the only one that has ( or had ) these.

Should be this link

Thanks Jelly... I appreciate it. I just bought a ton of stuff from Rodney and absolutely didn't see those!

I was hoping for the bump-steer kit, but it doesn't look like anyone has those anymore. This is about as good as it's going to get, and with these hardened inner tie-rods, it should minimize the effects of the bump steer. I was getting bump steer in my Fiero, but mostly because the bushings were fairly worn out by that point.

I just ordered two sets (he sells them individually, so 4). One set for my daughter's Fiero, and one set for my Fiero... for whenever I get around to restoring my car.

Thanks!

Hey 82-T/A, as you're a Fiero enthusiast ......

Do you use the 1984-88 Pontiac 'P' Parts and Illustration Catalog?

When I'm 'stuck' on an item, this book really helps me out......

Yeah... I've been thinking of buying one. Honestly, I just got back into Fieros like 8 months ago, and before that hadn't even touched one for almost 13 years... hah.

But for the past 8 months, I've basically been using Rock Auto as my Parts Book! I see some for sale though, so maybe I'll pick one up. I've been spending an inordinate amount of money on Fiero parts though. Everything I buy for my daughter, I've been picking up double in some cases so that I have spare parts for my car too. It's crazy, honestly... how quickly parts are disappearing for these cars. We're in a new age where everyone has a 3D printer or a home CNC machine... and yet, parts for the Fiero are more scarce than ever.

I was really into Fieros back in the late 1990s and through all of the first decade of the 2000s. This was during a time when there were several new Fieros in every junkyard, every week. If I needed anything that wasn't a "wear" item... I'd just go to the junkyard and there would be plenty of Fieros to pull parts from.

There were so many, I'd even find parts from the Fiero Store and many of the vendors in my old "Big Fiero Parts Book." Like the little tray in the front, or other unique things that the Fiero Store would offer.

So... I'm stock piling now because I know all this stuff will be gone when I have to do my Fiero.
