I have wanted to install a double din nav unit since about 2016. In 2020, I came across the shallow mount radio NAV unit and figured out it could be mounted where the Aux gauges were.
Lots of prototypes and test fits later, here is what I have so far:
With the radio going where the Aux gauges were, a bracket was made to relocate those over the instrument cluster area.

One thing I'm curious is when putting the double DIN in is that do you have to add any wiring or change how the wires connect to it. It's something that we've considered for our fiero but don't know where to put it.

It really depends:
If your double din radio is only a radio, it is mounted in the stock location, and power to the speakers is from the radio, then stock wiring will work and reach. You will just want the aftermarket harness to connect the radio to the stock fiero wiring.
If your double din radio has GPS, or a back up camera, or an external amplifier, or mounted in a non-stock location.... then yes you will need custom wiring solution.

interesting spot to put it. Never seen anyone move the GT gauges like that before. I don't hate it.

Since nobody else commented, I appreciate the fact that this is made entirely of steel with welded ears. Most people either 3d print something or hand carve it out of plastic sheet but your way will last a lifetime. Nice work.
