Llama is back and has an 88l4 with issues. (Page 1/1)

Hello you lovely people. Been a while.

I would like some ideas to check. This is a new to me car, and I want to run down the usual suspects and make this reliable(ish) until I drop a 3800, 3.6, ls, or something else in the rear.

So I have another 88 l4 that is stumble starting, like that v6 in the other post, but mine is a "hot" condition where I drive, shut it down, go in the bank, rob it, and get back to the fiero and it just cranks. If I hold they key it starts to spin up to 600 rpms, and if I feather the gas it will stumble to start, running like a one legged cheeta (stubles all the way). Cold, it fires right up like normal, but who wants to pull up to a bank and wait an hour before robbing it.

Some details, I don't rob banks. The throttle plate is moist (leaky injector?) And there is a code. I have not had an obd1 vehicle in...... a while. What pins do I short? Either way, I will pull the code later. Very heavy fuel smell as it drives, rich I am not but the car runs like it is. Then again, this is a cat delete exhaust. Rough idle, sure it has to do with the code.

Trying to upload a vid. Hope it worked. Hit me with thoughts! Loading the parts cannon!

It didn't.

Upload the video to YouTube, then link to it here.

those model throttle bodies are known for the O-Rings around the injector leaking. A wet throttle plate is a sign of that. Next time it's hot and no start, Hold the Throttle to the floor, it should fire up in a few seconds if it is infact flooding it's self.

You are correct, sir. Is this a Rodney dickman thing, fiero store, or can I get this at any parts place?

I would go to Rockauto and get a Throttle body repair kit, you will get every gasket and seal needed and a new Fuel pressure regulator, it's pretty cheap there.
