Going from manual to auto, I have swapped out the pedal assembly but I have the one clutch sensor connector now that doesn’t attached to anything. Do I simply cut the connector end off and splice the yellow and purple wires together? Also is there any other wiring I need to tackle? I am swapping in a auto steering column

Without refreshing my memory with Wiring diagrams, I am confident you won't have to worry about the Clutch safety switch at the pedal but you will have to repin the C500 connector for your starter signal.
Or I could be wrong and you haven't replaced the engine harness for an auto one, so ummm... you can make it work with the proper wiring diagrams and changing other wiring
Manual to Auto keeping the manual steering column and manual engine harness, is jump the Neutral safety, but now you have complicated it.[This message has been edited by jelly2m8 (edited 03-11-2024).]

Connect the yellow and purple wires, move C500 E3 to A4 and use the auto engine harness.
The steering column has no bearing on the swap.

Technically no, but the park neutral lockout is part of the switch that is on the steering column as I recall.
Edit -
For the OP, also to add, there are differences in the EPROM settings, but I assume you know that already.[This message has been edited by Mickey_Moose (edited 03-11-2024).]

You need a lot more then worrying about clutch/starter interlock...
Some highlights... proper PROM in ECM. ECM program "knows" what type trans & setup for idling etc change for trans type. auto trans engine wiring so ECM can lock the TC etc. W/o TC locking will hurt MPG & AT will get hotter driving @ all times. Neutral Switch on the trans do other things beside blocking starting "in gear." brake pedal switch for TC locking too and B-pedal switch(es) # will change for car w/ cruise & other options. Auto Trans interlock for I-switch so Can't Forget car is not in Park then get out then car moves seconds to hours later and hit things, worse people. That is "why" most want an AT steering column + don't have to push button to release I-key.------------------ Dr. Ian Malcolm: Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should. I have done the engine auto harness, ecm, auto foot pedal assembly and steering column. All I have left is wiring the clutch switch together the c500 pin to do. Can you please confirm the other suggestions because your long message has now royally confused me.

The ignition switch (on the top of the column) provides the shifter lock mechanism, but the neutral safety switch for the start signal is located on the auto transmission. The ignition lock on either column will accept the cable end for the shifter lock. The only reason to change the column is to remove the key release on the manual column.

To get the backup lights to work, disconnect the plug from the backup light switch on the manual shifter.
Route the wires from the C500 to the NSS on the auto transmission.

When you say route the wires from the c500 to the nss don’t you mean just repinned E3 to A4 on the c5 connector?
To make it totally clear I have done the following so far
Auto engine harness Auto steering wheel Auto brake pedal assembly Connected the clutch safety yellow and purple together
Next
Repin c500 E3 to A4
What else?? Is there any plugs by the foot pedal assembly that are no longer used?[This message has been edited by jjd2296 (edited 03-13-2024).]
