So I finally got my fiero to run, and it seemed lkike it was running super well, but it sounds a bit off. First, the idle is pretty chooppy below 1k rpm, and it sounds like a slight misfire, its sounds weird but not obvious, unless thats just what the stock 4 banger sounds like. Tactor like, and rough.
My 3rd issue is im getting white smoke out of the exhaust AGAIN. I just replaced the head gasket because it was smoking before, and I endeed up placing the headgasket in wrong, but this time I followed the manuel to a T and I beleive I torqued everything properly this time. Im cunfuzed and bamboozled at the moment. I doubt the rough idle and coolant burning are unrelated
PLEASE HELP! thanks much

Regarding the white smoke... it billows out of my Formula's exhaust tips every time I do a cold start, and lasts for several minutes. It's normal, unless it continues indefinitely and the coolant level starts to drop.

Agreed on the cold start smoke, does the same thing on my Fiero and my dad's, Fieros seem to do that more then regular cars, I don't know whether that is because of the relativity short exhaust system, or because it's stainless steel, maybe moisture condenses on it differently, but the smoke can last for up to 5 minutes, and it can get pretty thick, I'm no expert with the 4 cyl, but you do need to drive above a certain speed for the ECM to "learn" the idle, unless it does that, it can be high, low, choppy, etc. and to expect a "perfect" idle, the engine needs to also be warmed up.
