See if you can get a repair sleeve?
I used one on a 3800 crank that was scored. Hasn't leaked since.

This, put many a repair sleeve on a number of different engines through the years, all have lasted and been reliable, I install them using Loctite Green 290.

I work at a lot of marine Diesels that their only mission is to get worked hard 24/7, and these repair sleeves have saved hundreds of thousands in repairs for my customers.
