I have a 1984 Pace Car . Car is like new 2200 mile and the radio doesn’t work, nothing. The fuse is good, clock works, horn works but nothing coming out of the radio. Nothing no static nothing. I don't think the radio is even turning out. Any suggestions. TIA
Rick

The '84 is wired a little differently than later years.

Check the 20amp Courtesy Light fuse.

Yes check Both Fuses.
1 is "backup" power to save setting, keep time w/ I-key Off, etc.
2 is main power to run the whole thing.
But seems both are OK when Clock runs & correct turning I-key On.

Old Radios have Hundreds to Thousands of solder joints & any can fail killing part or the whole unit. Then have capacitors etc that "die" just from old age, worse when Parked outside where Cabin Temp can easily reach 150 to 200+°F. See http://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum2/HTML/141784.html Fiero Engine bay vs Heat.

Is part of why can't get good used or "Rebuilt" radios now. "Good" Used radio may work now then die in days to weeks later. Even if can find good "cores" the rebuilt co's have to do a lot of work for little profit just to have product that last 30-90 days warranty.
For that matter, I have some good radios that "died" just sitting in storage & @ lower temps that in a car. So even Garage Queen Cars are not immune to this problem.

Even when you "upgrade" to fit newer GM units in 90 to early 2000's, most of them are 20+ years old too & have same problems. 2 of my dead radios are later model units that worked when I got them.

Your picture is not a Fiero Radio, it's from a cavalier / FWD platform. Fiero's did not have chrome knobs, but ya, that don't matter, internally they should be electronically the same, so follow the above advice

If the unit is really 'dead' - check out Wags Klassic Electronics

There are also a lot of stock / restored vintage radios on eBay that have been modified with a coax / auxiliary jack so that you can play music from your cell phone or mobile device.

Yes, nearly all Delco units have same wiring plan w/ later just have different plug(s).

Is why some vendors sell kits to use newer units on older cars so just PnP the newer Delco radios in Fiero etc. Even Theftlock works if you're want to enable that. Most that does lost or forget the code & battery die etc can't undo w/o paying dealer or other hack to disable. (Before many have VIN lock the unit to CANBUS cars.) Theftlock "feature" was force by NHTSA etc that doesn't help much for theft protection & causes problems for owners & even GM & dealers because have to keep code restore service alive for years.

Some later Delco units have reduce inside wiring etc because have more "chips" controlling section of the unit but have same problem as early ones as they get older w/ crack solder, heat "damage," & so on. (Worse after RoHS happen forcing lead free solders etc.)

Same thing that kills the tach & speedo boards in Fiero & others.

Thank you for all the advice. I’ll check out the second fuse tomorrow.
