Harness routing for 88GT power mirror on driver side, need help! (Page 1/1)

I had to replace the driver side mirror on my 88 GT, and when I pulled it off, I found the harness was completely disconnected. This explained why it wasn’t working at all, but, the harness off the mirror was very short, like around 8” or so, not even long enough to reach the boot between the door and the body. I took off the kick panel and found the body side harness tucked up under the dash., but even when I extended it out, it barely is long enough to go through the boot to the door. This just doesn’t seem right, but I have to reference as it was not connected when I removed the door panel and mirror to start with!

What am I missing here? Is there supposed to be an extension harness between the body side and the door side?

The harness goes through the boot on the door, and straight up the hinge end of the door, forward of the front window track. Its just long enough to reach.

Yes, mirror wires goes thru the tube to door then up to hole & bit more so can unplug the mirror assembly w/o pulling apart the door.

When you see stuff like this...

The door &/or Mirror was off the car or more likely replace by morons.

If the wires won't reach @ minimum the mirror was replace. To fix need to slice 2 lengthen that section.
Where the wires live isn't important just make sure can't move & get in the window parts.

Door metal on back should have label(s) w/ tire inflation & VIN to match Car VIN
87+ has VIN stickers on many things will match the car VIN too. Those are/were require by Feds as part of Anti Theft.

If you can see the stickers on many things easily, car likely got wrecked.
Hood, front fenders & rear clip have easy to find stickers. Other things have stickers on back or hidden under the Tag on back of rear "bumper."
