Instrument Cluster problems (Page 1/1)

Alright so this would be a repost of an existing problem that I had on my fiero. I have a 1987 Gt Fiero in a fairly good condition.

Issue- my instrument cluster Printed Circuit Board was heavily bridle and corroded. As i try to put it back on it all fell apart. Some of my light stop working and my trunk release switch does not work also and, it’s a new one from the fiero store and before removing the dash it was working also my ajar indicator light only comes on when the car is in Ignition.

Things a did to see if it solved the issue.

So I got a new board and installed I also got a new dimmer switch and dimmer transistor and new fuses installed in the fuse box. Also tested the light bulbs and there conectores they also work. With all this done my ajar indicator light only comes on with the ignition on, my truck release button does not work ( also check the relay for this and swap with one that works and nothing) and my ajar and high beam indicator don’t work. Am I missing something. I’m open to suggestions and/or test.

Will also answer any questions about the car and what I’ve done so far. If I miss anything I’ll respond as quickly as possible to clear anything up.

my 1k project 87 gt did the same thing litterally this morning. check your harness going to the switches and to the new board. I had issues with my connector actually seating fully. though I did not buy a new board for mine.....I uh.. made a spiders nest of wiring to recreate the traces I don't recommend anyone else do that but it's working for me

As to the what light only coming on when the ignition is on (and a door is open) I think that's normal, just about the only things that really have retained power with the ignition off is the blue dingy thingy (to remind you about headlights and key in ignition) and the interior courtesy lights.

Ajar only On w/ I-key On & whatever Open.
Even when you tested on a bench, Dash lights often have iffy sockets or dash etc is "crush" over time & won't connect right. Just work on my dash & had to twist sockets a bit to have all work. Sockets can be bad too. Has more problems w/ any other then 194 bulbs as brighter = hotter = more heat damage. LED have problems too & some bulbs cannot use LED.

when have "Dim bulbs" or other dash problems...
