So im able to drive my fiero now but it likes to stall when i stop. The engine starts up and idles fine when im in park, and usually will run good once i put into drive, but after driving for a little while, the engine will stall when coming to a stop. I have a 1984 Duke with an automatic transmission.
At first I thought this was because my TCC was going bad so I unplugged it to prevent it from locking the torque converter since I dont plan on going over 45 mph in this **** mobile anytime soon anyway. This kinda fixed the issue, im able to drive under speed of like 25mph or so without it stalling (mind you the engine still struggles but wont completely stall). I have no idea whats going on.
I doubt its the engine since i just bought brand new ignition coil, distributor, cables, injector, fuel/air filter, and a whole bunch of others stuffs.
I think my prolem might be my shift solenoid in the tranny because i took the car to around 35mphish for the first time today but when i slowed to maybe 15ish to make a turn, the trany didnt downshift out of 2nd and i ended up stalling untill I gave the engine a little more gas to keep the car moving. (this happens at speeds over 30ish mph.
also im losing tranny fluid pretty rapidly but i dont have any visible drippys under the car :P
Helps pls!------------------ James Bird

check your rubber trans lines at the drivers side right under the air tube and look for wetness. any fluid loss at all is bad. a rapid loss means pressurized leak which has to be fixed before any diagnosis can be done. also if it needs more throttle it generally means it's not making enough pressure or fully maxed out. does the TV cable move fairly easily or do you really have to try with the throttle to open it?

also I do have a 84 with the same trans that makes a....grinding/shaking a can full of metal stuff (nails, nuts, etc) in anything but park which is from a broken part inside the transmission which has been/is causing issues similar to yours

There is no shift solenoid(s) in TH125c.
Either you unplug the wrong thing to disable TCC locking or have more problems then just sticking TCC solenoid.
Iffy TV cable won't cause engine stalling from the trans problems.------------------ Dr. Ian Malcolm: Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should. (Jurassic Park)

its weird since i have a big engine oil leak, but visibile drips from the tranny at all. I was assuminbg it might be the cooling lines but idk. this car has been a struggle
