Which engine mounts do I need? (Page 1/1)

So my engine is a bit slanted. If I'm looking at the engine, I can see the left side is lower than the right side. Also, you can clearly see the dog bone has shifted as well. So probably need to replace the engine mounts. My question is, which do I need and are they still available somewhere?

Fierostore has all the mounts for the engine and transmission but I have no idea how much they would charge you for shipping.

I would replace all three, and put new poly or rubber in the dog bone.

When one goes, it takes the others with it in short time.

just did this in my 87 and the 88. you need both trans mounts in the drivers side. I ordered every mount on the fiero store but I believe Rockauto and oreillys carry most of them. at least they carry the hydraulic passenger mount that is.
my advice is to jack up the transmission after undoing the bolts on the mounts and the fog bone and you'll have to pry the trans upwards or just violence the old mounts out (I just pried them out with a Cheater bar) and the new ones won't actually go in unless you pry the base of the stud in carefully to line up with the transmission. no difference between automatic and manual other than the mounting holes for the mount in the subframe

Yes. This.

The mounts on the trans look to have collapsed, but it's best to replace them all. The one under the crank pulley frequently gets oil-soaked, which will make it fail, too.
Bring your tools, a couple of jackstands and a floor jack, and a big pry bar. Be careful, working under the car. Ramps will help, instead of jackstands. And will be safer.

● If V6 have same mount design as Dukes, drilling a drain often protect the mount.
See https://web.archive.org/web...~fierocave/mount.htm

● Use wooden blocks under oil pad or even the trans depending on your jack.
Any point load means can very easily crush or break the thing you're lifting.

Examples:
Many use a floor jack but metal shoe on top to lift often have "teeth" or cup edge then will point load(s) doing the lift to change the mounts.
Many use a bottle jack & more that often have top the size of postage stamp in many countries to start then even less hitting the engine/trans.

Some soft wood block & related to "cancel" that & other uneven areas hit so oil pan etc are happy.

● When installing...
In Fiero think the V6 Motor mount doesn't have slots in parts go in to. Others do. TIGHTEN the motor mount then others.
Motor end dog bone bracket may have slots when bolts to engine too.

● check the AXLES to see inner CV look about same shape when the wheel are loaded normally.
The trans can move some after replacing the mounts & sometimes 1 axle is "crushed" & 2nd is pulled out & either can break the CV fast w/ that problem.
Take pictures of the inner CV before you start so when done look the about same.

Ok so I need two trans mounts (front and rear) and the front engine mount?

Those are the three mounts?

Yeah, there's THREE mounts total.

Two that attach to the transmission, and one that attaches to the front underside of the motor. You can get all three of them cheap from Rock Auto. I'd normally recommend the Fiero Store, but you seem to have the ability to get stuff from Rock Auto, so I'd just go that route. Literally just type in the make/model/engine for your car, and select the ones for your transmission and you should be fine. They're actually really easy to install... but again, just a little bit of a pain. If I remember correctly, you should be able to get to the transmission mounts from the driver side rear wheel well.

There's a tool (a bracket really) that attaches to the top of the shock towers that you can suspend the engine from. I'd really recommend if you can find that, or make something. It's much easier than having to jack up the bottom of the transmission.
