finally got my manifolds repaired and my muffler...patched. temporarily until the new ocelot exhaust arrives. long story short the nut stripped all the threads off of the stud above the ac compressor and now there is a ratchet completely stuck on the nut since I got the stud to unscrew somehow. I can't get the plate off of my compressor since the clamp bolt above the lines is spinning and i really don't want to unbolt the whole things brackets even though I can't spin it by hand (or with a pipe wrench on it) so is there an easier way I might be able to get an 1/8th inch of clearance to pop the ratchet off the socket? or do I get the saw out and just hope I don't hit something expensive

Ugh, that is a bummer. While I can't fully envision your fiasco, in a similar situation I used one of these mini hacksaws. With patience, I was able to hack a bolt using the very TIP of the saw (i.e. the way it is in the photo.)

managed to shove the compressor off and fixed the stud by replacing it with a new ace hardware one. took over 12 hours but hey the y pipe is the only thing that leaks... oh well that's what Flux core is for

(INSERT SWEARWORD OF CHOICE HERE) THE Y PIPE WONT STOP LEAKING it's was fine and as soon as I sat down to drive it the pipe started leaking... I guess I'll order a new cross over and head pipe since I think I have a 88 style

double checked and it's a 87 and before style thank gosh. so I'll be currently just forcing putty around the leak til it gets here but man that sucks... guess my manifolds weren't the only thing leaking a month back when I heard the ticking exhaust leak. think these may have been the cause of my supercharger noises in 2nd gear when hard on the throttle

note I said supercharger noises. like gear whine and yeah it looks like the stock y pipe broke and a previous owner decided to slam together a 87 style exhaust with a 88 style spring bracket for the muffler itself. I do also have a 1987 fiero that has the same exhaust but a different bracket for the springs so I do know the difference

Yup .... when you have to resort to hacksaws or vice grips .... you have a fiasco on your hands.
A 10K RPM grinder and a thin diamond disk is the high tech up grade. And ... good safety glasses.
