Manual to auto conversion (Page 1/1)

I have completed (well almost) my manual to auto conversion. last thing is the wiring. car starts, runs, shifter and NSS all work, but no TCC engagement as i have not finished that part of the wiring. so here I am, asking for a little help so I don't mess this up.

I used a auto engine wiring harness, but kept the manual interior harness. the pedal conversion is done and the clutch safety for the clutch pedal (yellow and purple wires) are tied together now. I thought I read somewhere that all I needed to do was move pin P to pin A on the C500 but that didn't seem to do anything for me.

I found this on an archived thread but I'm not the best at understanding wiring so if someone could basically give me a step by step that would be great.

here is what I found :

On the manual cars, the circuit looks like this:

Gages Fuse --->pnk/blk--->Upshift Indicator--->tan/blk--->C203 pin A--->tan/blk---> ECM C2 pin A7

On the Automatic cars:

Gages Fuse --->pnk/blk--->Brake pedal sw (normally closed)--->ppl--->C203 pin P--->ppl---> TCC Solenoid pin A--->TCC Solenoid pin D--->tan/blk---> ECM C2 pin A7

so if I have a manual interior harness am I just moving C203 pin A to C203 pin P ? im not following these instructions?

Anyone?

For the automatic ; to engage the torque converter you will need to change the ECM or reprogram the chip. The manual ECM is not programmed to energize the torque converter.
It should only require adding one wire to the ECM connector.,

Simplest thing to do is get a copy of the factory service manual for your car (can be download from the net) - compare the wiring diagram of the automatic to the standard. Make your wiring the same as the automatic diagram.

Also as Dennis mentioned - you need the automatic EPROM for your year of car. There are more differences than just the turning on the TCC though (yes I have compared the files - lol )

Dennis I have a auto ecm and burned chip already. I just need help confirming which wires to move on the pinout ?

Away for a few days. I will pull the manual tomorrow and let you know. Its all there. No need to disconnect the shift lamp, The auto ECM will not energize it.

Thanks so much Dennis! Really appreciate it.

The torque converter lockup is done by the TC solenoid. It is pin A7 on the ECM. The circuit goes through one side of the brake switch so the TC lockup shuts off when you press on the brake. You will need the auto brake switch. One side controls the brake lights while the other shuts off the torque converter when you push on the brake. When you buy the new switch make sure that you connect to the right pins. Test with a multi-meter.
