Whirring noise when shutting door (Page 1/1)

When I shut the passenger side door (1985 fiero SE V6) I hear an almost electrical sounding whirring noise coming from the passenger side trunk area. I know the rear suspension needs some work and the steering rack needs lubricating but this doesn’t sound familiar at all.

The trunk blower (for the coil/alternator) is located there (for '85-'87 2.8), but it's not supposed to be running unless your rad fan is also running.

Your description of the sound reminded me of the chorus from this 1970 release by the Irish Rovers. Yes, I'm ancient.

Thanks for sharing a musical explanation Patrick.

So, this would likely be something grounding out or a failed relay?

We need to find out what else might be powered on (if anything) when this occurs... or perhaps the Irish Rovers are trapped in his trunk.

Glad to oblige. We try to have some fun here on occasion.
