          | Who can tell me what the idle speed should be on a V6 GT? Every video I see that shows the tach is indicating ~900 RPM. Mine is there also.
I would expect something around 600, but I understand the ECM controls this through the IAC valve, and it cannot be (lowered) in my case.

Is there a workaround to get it lower?

          | 900 is perfect. I wouldn't mess with it. | |

          | Lower oil pressure (from a lowered idle speed) while idling with an older worn engine may not be a good idea.

If you had the "Vehicle Emission Control Information" sticker on the deck lid, it says:

"The idle speed is automatically controlled. Do Not Attempt Adjustments."

And yes, my operating temperature idle is around 800-900 RPM too.....

          | The ECM’s idle RPM target can be changed by modifying its PROM.
How did you determine that 600 RPM was a good idle speed?

From my experimentation, the Fiero V6 will not run smoothly below 800.

          | I had 600 RPM in my mind from the good 'ol SBC V-8 days. If 900 rpm is correct, I'm fine with that. Thanks! | |
