Hello All... kinda stumped here with an issue with my Left front turn signal light. The previous owner upgraded to LED turn signal lights. Earlier this summer the Left front (driver's side) one stopped working. I pulled it out and saw that the LED light part had seperated from the base (looked like a bad solder job, or a cheap bulb).
I just replaced it with a regular 2057 bulb as I couldn't located another LED in time.
So, it worked as expected during the day (blinks when it should), but as soon as I turn on my Headlights, the LEFT turn indicator in the Instrument cluster illuminates and stays on and the actual blinker light doesn't illuminate at all.
I've looked at the Ogre's page and I couldn't see why my issue was happening.... but I then had a thought. Do you think it's because I still have an LED turn signal light on the passenger side that's meesing up a ground or something? Can you combine an LED and regular Bulb on this circuit?
I'm going to go and try that now, but would be interested on any insight anyone may have with this..
Thanks in advance,
Cheers

I had that happen once with one of the front turn signals, one of the wires had pulled out of the socket. Replaced the socket, problem solved.

It's been my experience that the fiero electrical system doesn't like mix and match bulbs. Go either all LEDs or incandescents.
I had the problem you described so it sounds like you may need to install a ballast resistor. Some LEDs have them internal and others need external resistors. IT sounds like the failed LED had an internal resistor.[This message has been edited by Mike in Sydney (edited 09-08-2024).]

So I replaced the Passenger side LED bulb turn signal light to a regular 2057 Bulb.
No difference, so that doesn't seem to be it. BTW - why the hell is it so hard to change these bulbs???? I have larger hands I guess and I struggled with getting my hands in behind to twist in the socket properly...anyway, I digress...
Here is the breakdown of what's happening:
Headlights OFF:
Both rear and front turn signals work as expected. Dash turn signal lights also flash as expected.
Headlights ON:
Passenger side Turn signal works as expected in both rear and front, and right turn dash light flashes as expected. When not flashing (Turn signal off) the front bumper light is illuminated.
Driver side Turn signal does not work in the front, and the rear light flashes quickly. The left turn dash light stays on contsantly, regardless if the turn signal is activated or not. The front left bumper light is NOT illuminated.
So, when I took out thew LED from the passenger side I replaced it with the bulb I was usiung for the driver side to check to see if it was the bulb. Since it worked I can eliminate that the bulb is the issue.
Going to pour over my Service Manual wiring diagrams today and see what I may be missing here, but as always appreciate all responses as some tings can be easily overlooked.
Wish me luck!

So all is done and said, RWDPLZ was correct!
Turned out that the Ground wire in the socket was bad internally in the PARK/TURN light. I was hesitant to just cut it away at first as the side marker light was also not working, so I needed to verify power etc. Looking over The Ogre's LED article I understood that the ground goes through the PARK/TURN light for the side marker when the lights are on.
I actually wound up changing out the side marker light socket as well as it had intermittent contact and now all is Peachy....
Thanks for the help!
