turn signal woes (Page 1/1)

the 88 did something super fun while driving today. the entire right tail light has running lights and brake lights but no turn signals at all. somehow though when you flash the signal manually since it won't flash on its own its flashes the left signals and the left works normally. where should I start checking to find out where the short or bodged wires are?
no idea on the hazards yet since they usually don't work and the switch in the column gets stuck everytime I use it and I'm not in the mood to rip the column apart when it gets stuck again

Assuming that you have not changed to LEDs...Start with the basics.

1) Check all bulbs for continuity. The 1157 bulbs are dual filament and one could be burned out and the other not.
2) Next check all sockets for damage & continuity.
3) Check your grounds.
4) Check the blinker relay.
5) If all else fails, top up the blinker fluid in the system

did everything but number 5. unfortunately the local shops only carry that new synthetic type 5 blinker fluid nowadays.
guess I'll be digging through the harness to find the short since it kinda has to be one
