Dull tail light (Page 1/1)

I have an 87 GT with new taillight lenses but the left one is painted on the outside and the one on the right painted on the inside, the right has a great gloss to it but the left is slightly duller, is there anything that will enhance the left one?

New Keith Goodyear lenses or just "new to the car" lenses? Can't understand with the Goodyear lenses why they would be painted.

...Anyway, for the dull lens you could try polishing it with a kit that is for removing the haze from polycrylic headlamp lenses. I've had good results but to get a good finish you should plan on investing a bit of time and elbow grease. Alternatively, you could just try to respray the dull lens with a 2-pack acrylic clear coat that you can pick up at the auto paint store. Here in Oz, it comes in a rattle can that injects the catalyst when you are ready to use the paint. It's a one-shot aprosh because after the catalyst is added, the paint / clear coat only has an hour or 2 before becoming unusuable.

These are Keith’s lenses. I bought them as blemished .One was prefect, the other had crazing on the black areas. I took the blemish one to a painter. He painted the outside of the lense and clear coated it. It looked good until you put it next to the other one and then it isn’t close to being as glossy as the other one. Will I just have to do the same to the the glossy one?

If you want a 'mated pair' then of course yes, take the other lenes to the same painter...
