The only way it will stay running is to keep pouring gas into the TBI. The fuel injector is producing gas but it seems like it’s not enough to keep it running. How should I go to diagnose the problem?

First replace the fuel filter. It could be clogged. Could be a bad regulator but more likely its a 36 yr old bad fuel pump. Test for fuel pressure as suggested. If you replace the fuel pump BE SURE that the section inside the tank between the fuel pump and gas tank sender is J30R10 submersible fuel hose. Regular fuel injection hose will deteriorate, Also make sure that you will be replacing the fuel pump with the lower pressure unit used on the 4 cylinder Fieros. ------------------

I think it might be the regulator. I’ll also try to see what the pressure is for the fuel pump. I hooked a hose up to the fuel line and turned it over and it fill a bottle up really quick. Sure hope it’s not the fuel pump, don’t really want to drop the tank. I’m an old man and don’t think I could do it myself.

As you probably already know, the regulator is easy to change. Small investment so I would just change it. With today's gasohol and 37 yrs on the road, it could have very well eroded away.
I would also check if the injector is spraying correctly. They do clog and new ones are available. You can look in to see if it is spraying but wear eye protection and use extreme caution.
To replace the fuel pump, the rough part is draining the tank. After that it just disconnect the power connector, the fill line, gas vapor and return lines and after about 10 connections of nuts and bolts removed the tank will drop right out. Its not heavy, Be sure to spray with penetrant before attempting bolt/nut removal. If you break a hangar new ones are available . The job is pretty easy IF you have a lift. If not you got to get the car up about 2' and use a creeper and crawl under. I stopped doing that years ago when we purchased the Rotary Lift.

It wasn’t the fuel pump. I cleaned and replaced the diaphragm and it started right up. But now I think there is a gasket that needs to be replaced on the injector cause it sure is leaking gas now.

If you haven't already, buy a "TBI Rebuild Kit" from Rock Auto. It should be about $50 bucks and will come with everything you need to rebuild it.

I found the regulator on rock auto. Same price as Autozone and the rebuild kit doesn’t come with the diaphragm. I have been working on this car for years when I had the time. I’m so close to getting it to run properly. I do appreciate you suggestions and help. Thank you
