Red Devil River Bluetooth ALDL scanner setup problems (Page 1/1)

Does anyone here use this bluetooth scanner? I got one a few months back and am just now trying to get it setup. There wasn't much in the way of instructions that came with it so I'm having a heck of a time figuring it out.
My first question is do I need to have the USB cable plugged into a power source? It looks like it powers off of the car connector but I wasn't sure if I was supposed to also use the usb cable to connect to a usb plug in the cig adapter thing.
2nd is what bluetooth connection do I use? It shows a "net" and a "Red Devil River" bluetooth device. I was able to get the "net" one connected at first but today I can't get it to stay connected. The "Red Devil River" one didn't even come up yesterday but today it is coming up and asking for a PIN. My phone tells me it is usually 0000 or 1234. I tried 1234 and that seemed to work but it never fully connects.
I'm also not sure what the flashing light on the unit means. It sometimes pulses red and other times just runs through the different colors. Did I miss the instruction book or somehting?
UPDATE: Ok, I did find the instructions in a subfolder on the USB stick. It looks like I do not need the cable and am using the "Red Devil River" bluetooth name with 1234 as the pin. My phone still doesn't stay connected to that bluetooth name so not sure if I can follow the remainder of the instructions. Anybody else have trouble staying connected?

I believe Red Devil River is Timm Bacher, Cant say much about his ALDL OBD1 scanning program but if its TunerPro, just not crazy about it. Read reports that it would not work on my Cadillac 4.9L swap that uses the more full featured OBD 1.5 Years back we invested in an Actron III OBD1 scanner. It scans and records perfectly on all GM vehicles to 1995 when OBDII came into play. The AutoXray 5000 is another good scanner for OBD1. These days OBD1 scanners are getting hard to find.

Tried to ask him a question on eBay before and after purchasing one of his OBD1 cables never got a reply. Gave him many chances still never replied. Got him a negative eBay feedback for that.
