I am still trying to finish a brake job started back in June of this year. Have posted several threads and have benefited from feedback, answers and suggestions. Short summary: son came home using the emergency brake for stopping as the brake pedal went soft unexpectedly and without any prior symptoms to warn and no work had been done on them since purchasing the car in july 2022. Not really knowing the history of the brake work with previous owner and noticing a longer than ideal stopping distance (almost hit someone when traffic in front of me stopped with no notice) we decided to do a complete brake job: pads, discs, calipers (didnt realize we bought reman calipers but since changed out for new) master cylinder and ss brake hoses from the Fiero store. Couldn't get the entire brakes system to bleed successfully. Was able to get the rears to bleed and get half a pedal and then fronts would put out mostly fluid on the first bleed and then foam on subsequent bleeds and then nothing on second and third bleeds and then lost of all pedal. Also noticed the proportioning valve plunger was moving forward so we got one of those pins to hold it center. That didn't really help, unsuccessfully replaced OEM Prop valve with a wet one from a salvage car on ebay and again same symptoms. At this point I am trying to replace the OEM proportion/combination valve with a Wilwood 4444/30 260-11179 Proportioning Valve. I am trying to follow another forum post to accomplish this Wilwood substitute
With the wilwood installed I am not sure that the lines from the master cylinder to the wilwood are sealing at the master cylinder outlets. The NAPA counter help initially provided a fitting adapter, but then decided that the shape of it might not allow it to seal so he recommended a fitting and line combo, but in looking at the shape of that line fitting end it doesnt look like it has any better a shape to seal to the outlet of the master cylinder. I wonder if this is what is keeping me from properly bleeding the system and getting a good pedal and finishing the brake job. See pics please.
