I have a fiero 2.8 V6 1986 and the engine is turning into a money pit is in the shop and things keep breaking as they're taking it apart it is up to 6K to fix it now I'm wondering if it would be cheaper to just install a new engine I can get a 3800 series 3 for about 2,200k does anyone know a shop and a price that would do engine swaps for a fiero

If you find the 3800 route might be too expensive, you may consider this: https://engine-parts.com/online-store/

I have found a 3800 with a supercharger for a decent price I'm just looking for a place who would install it for me

I understand. I was addressing the cost associated with installation.

Depends on whether or not you're going to do it yourself, or pay someone else to do it.

There are very few places that are willing to do an engine swap (to something completely different than what it came with), and you can expect to pay through the nose, or whatever the phrase goes. You'd likely want to use one of the Fiero Shops that are still around... like the one run by Villain in Central Florida (you can PM him). Otherwise... you're asking someone to do tons of custom work, and you'll probably have to pay like close to $20 grand, regardless of the motor you put in there.

If you want a quick upgrade, go buy a Gen-1 3.4 Liter V6/6 from a 93-95 Camaro or Firebird. Basically drops right in, just needs a few holes drilled. Everything else on your existing V6 attaches to it, and no modifications necessary. Or... you can go to ARI Racing and buy a 3.1 or 3.4 rebuild kit, etc. $6,000 for an engine rebuild, plus removal and re-installation is not at all a bad price. That's actually pretty good.

$6K to fix an engine? Those guys must be nuts. The quick easy fix is the 3.4L P/R engine. While they are getting hard to find a few guys upgrading to the 3800 or LS4 may have an
"drop out" engine for you.
If you have a sound good running (Preferably low miles) 3800SC/auto w the PCM; that should bolt right in with new custom mounts a few brackets, new belts, hoses/lines and a custom wiring harness. The stick will be a higher cost as you will need a new flywheel and clutch. I would estimate the swap parts are labor would run $3K. I do not recommed a 3800SC swap with the Getrag light duty 5 speed. We've seen too many blow apart.

Im w Dennis, $6k is crazy! Id get a cupla more fieros more that much. If youre going to do an engine swap, wait till the boneyard has a sale. I got my 3800sc for about $4-500 w the harness n bracketry. If you go that route, you will need motor mounts, a bigger fuel pump, a fierorog flywheel if going stick, and a custom tune from Ryan at sinister, plus fuel and coolant fittings/hoses. If youre not looking for more power, just get a used 2.8 from the boneyard, or a member on here may have one sitting around for cheap. I have a new crate shortblock still bolted to the pallet, pm me if interested. They also pop up on craigslist and prolly farcebook marketplace too cheap. Definitely consider all the option before pulling the trigger
