Fiero amplifier to sub woofer question (Page 1/1)

Hello

My car has the factory sub, but I have replaced the head unit with a Monsoon one with built in Bluetooth

Would like to run the factory sub woofer, but I think this requires a dediated amp. Don't need anything crazy since it is just one speaker

Any suggesions on an appropriate amp? Not sure if the Monsoon unit has any kind of built in "crossover" effect so that I am not pumping treble into the amp

Sorry- I I know nothing about car audio...

Suggestions?

Factory subwoofer has a factory amp in the passenger side carpet on the center shift console, with aftermarket head unit, you will need to run seperate power cable as the original radio provides a high power feed that aftermarket units don't, but all other wires should hook up and function, and there is a bass slider by the dome lights to control basic equalisation.

You can also get one of many different factory amps from other vehicles. When I added the factory sub housing with a larger sub to my car, I used a "dealer option" kicker 100W amplifier that drives the subwoofer in the Jeep SRT8. It is a small amp with a built in low pass filter which worked well.

You'll probably want to replace the subwoofer speaker as well... if it hasn't already been replaced, then it likely has a dry-rotten cone and probably will sound like garbage with a good head unit.
