Fiero vin problem (Page 1/3)
Pontiacjeepuk NOV 18, 05:27 AM
Hi, I'm new to forums, location I'm in the UK and here's my question, I have a white fiero sat here in a field since 1991, it has every thing a 1984 car body wise should have, ie vented deck lid, those earlier door skins 13 inch turbo wheels, glass sail panels, fisher body in the step sills, (rockers) etc etc, but the vin year on the plate is F not a E as I'd would expect, the screen is out and the tag plates havnt looked to been tampered with, it's identical to my earlier fiero with E vin, the door I'd sticker has long since weathered away on this one so did they produce the 84 fiero with it the early bits into 1985, thanks, can any one help with the month of production can supply full vin if needed thanks

The RPO sticker on the front driverside wheel well also lists the VIN. If that is worn as well, there is a 2nd VIN tag under the dash and mounted on the steering column support.

You can also look in the engine bay as the wiring changed from 84 to 85.
If there is a large electrical junction connector behind the battery, then it is an 85-87. In the picture below you can just see the + battery terminal on the battery and the right side of the picture is the passenger strut tower.

If that same connector is more towards the center of the firewall to the passenger compartment, then it is an 84.
After 40 years, it is quite common for panels to be swapped, but it takes a fair amount more effort to swap the entire electrical harness, so that is much less common.

Yes it's in the middle of the bulkhead or firewall

The C-500 is relocated in the 85-88 model years.

I think guru has a typo in his response....

So if this is the case of it being 1984 spec, why does it have a tenth digit F does not make sense did they have it hanging around and decided to plate it up later to get rid?

Does the VIN match in all three locations mentioned on the car? (The VIN is also on a sticker on each body panel.)

Post your VIN number and let the Fiero sleuths go to work.

Good catch... so used to typing 84-87 in reference to brakes/suspension. I fixed it.

Hi OK here's the vin for this 1984 fiero IG2PF37ROFP204093 I've looked on panels but there's no stickers anywhere, is there a physical stamping on the metal frame as like on British cars, thanks for the help
1985 Fiero GT NOV 19, 09:06 AM
Fiero hub lists it as a 1985 SE, that's the extent of my vin lookup tools haha, although here is the actual vin (1 instead of I and a 0 instead of an o in one place): 1G2PF37R0FP204093
