Clutch kit compatibility (Page 1/1) saving_rossi APR 11, 03:02 PM I got a dumb question. I realized I got a clutch kit for an 01 sunfire, which is where I got my transmission from—but the engine I’m putting in (3100 SFI )has 170 hp and I’m not sure this will fit and if it does fit I’m not sure what power this clutch is rated for. Sun fire was 115 hp and I got the kit from MPACT, 04-159-WS clutch kit I’m probably just going to return it but if this will magically be compatible. Engine is from a 2002 Buick century limited v6 3100 SFI, Transmission is an F23 5 speed from a 2001 Pontiac sun fire, fiero is a 1985 SE v6. The clutch should match your transmission. I messed up and now have a brand new Getrag 5 speed stage 2 clutch kit in a box. The clutch does match my transmission. 1985 Fiero GT APR 11, 04:49 PM In this case, the pressure plate must match the transmission, the flywheel the engine, and the clutch disc must match whatever power you are expecting, for the 4 speed, 5 speed, f23, etc. the flywheel is the same, clutch disc is compatible, and the pressure plate makes up for the different Bell housing sizes. I'm using a spec 3+ clutch and pressure plate from the transmission, flywheel from an 88 Fiero (same as 3100, 3400, 3.4, 2.2 used with f23, etc.) my clutch disc is speced (get it? The brand... Haha) will have plenty of grip. In your case it will work, but i don't know how well a 2.2l clutch disc will hold up to the 3100. In performance or custom applications, often components do not work off the shelf, a clutch might need to be carefully selected or pieced together, it might fit, but it might not last.
