Excellent project and thread.
Are there any other pics of your chassis re-enforcement? Working on a similar project and I think I like your methods.

Hey Ron, long time no see! No I have not worked at all on it for a long time. Its sitting in the basement garage till I get into better health. I had a spinal fusion on 3-4-09 and I get to go back in and have it redone in November. My plans were to get it going again this fall but looks like thats shot for another 6 months or more. My buddy is on me about bringing it over his place so that he can prep some of the easier stuff like painting the fire wall, starting the glass work on the interior but we shal see!!

Hey you still got that old getrag sitting in your garage, wasting space!?! I am looking to have Ed parks do the swap on the yellow car.

Actually, I've got a couple Getrags sitting in my shop but, I may have found a use for both of them. Come on down sometime. If you need directions, let me know. You'll enjoy seeing my project on the rotissary. Buckle you in and go for a spin.

Ok, so after my 2nd back surgery, I got all the rear suspension and drive line pulled out of storage. I am shooting for it to run this summer sometime. I am not going to kill myself trying to do this so there will be some pic updates and so on! I will say its nice with all that stuff out of my furnace room! I will post updates after x-mas. Happy holidays all!

Whats the status of this, I want to see how that air bag set up works out.
YELLOWFIERO88 FEB 06, 01:44 AM
The front has been working since it went into storage a few years ago. It works great, I could not wish it to work any better. Plenty of room so there is no chance of abrasion of the bag. The rear is a standard strut setup so I don't see any problems with it working at all. The only down side is with the car, not the setup. I would love to run a 17"/18" combo but with that, the car won't lay floors due to the top of the front tire hitting the body structure! I will have to do some tinkering to see the biggest wheel I can run when it gets closer to that time this fall.

I have been working a little here and there with my buddy to get the engine coupled together and set on the subframe. As always life is hard now so I don't really plan on killing myself with this project. There is a lot of cleaning to do on it so that is taking some time. Its amazing how much dirt collects on parts that just sit!

Does it ride much better, as in softer? Thats what I'm looking for
YELLOWFIERO88 FEB 07, 06:29 PM
I have not driven this car yet but I have had several air ride cars and trucks in the past. Yes they ride better than stock IMO. You can adjust the spring rate by the amount of air pressure in the bags. My crew cab dually would ride best about 3" off the ground with 120 psi. It rode softer than any truck and also most cars on the road. Then when I wanted to tow, I would air it up and go.

Car is for sale. Make offers. I have a truck load or more of parts that go with it. Just to hard to build with my back. Has lots of rebuilt parts. Could be a roller in 4 hours. as of now, front end is complete minus steering system. has a cradle under rear with trailer axle welded to it to move it around. Good motor and trans and subframe. Air ride suspension. etc! Big money into all the powder coated parts
