It is with a ridiculously heavy heart that I write this.... Anyone want a Formula?
I can't afford the time the car needs now and it is becoming harmful to my family to keep it. I've always said someone would have to pry the keys from my cold, dead, hands or me from the smoking wreckage of his shell but time has proven me wrong.
I'm asking $1k and entertaining reasonable offers. I'm in the far north DFW, TX area. The car stacks up as follows:
* 1988 Formula * 195,340 miles * stock 2.8L V6 * M282 manual * AC * New distributor * New fuel pump. * Paint is toast. Seats are toast. Interior is.... halfway glued back together? * NO significant RUST (that I can find. Trunk corners are solid.) * LOUD stereo: I installed quad 4" across the dash, 4x6's in the pillars were replaced by previous owner, 10" sub in passenger footwell, 6 channels of amplification behind the passenger seat (both windows down, 90 MPH, no biggie.) * Poly bushings everywhere except the swaybar bushes (I always wanted to upgrade the rear bar but never got around to it. This is the car's second set, they likely have 5K miles on them. * Front end lowered 1" with Rodney's balljoints. * Windshield has a significant crack running across it's width. * Steering rack was rebuilt but I got the input shaft off by one tooth when reassembling it several years ago. simple fix but I can't bring myself to do it. * Rodney's competition short throw shifter, cut an inch shorter. * Select cable is rusted, not quite solid (moving between selections takes a LOT of effort.) * Wing is off the car with a broken stud. Easy fix with $20 Ebay parts. * I have a bin full of power window and lock hardware but not the harnesses. * I have a full set of Rodney's steel vacuum lines that I never installed. * New battery (it's the cheap rebuild Walmart variety but still.) * Engine needs: Timing chain (parts included), oil pickup reset (sucks air on heavy left turns),
Now for the harshest part.... The car was in a garage that caught fire. Miraculously little damage was done to the car but the window was rolled down so the interior got filled with plastic-fire soot. The interior is going to have to come out and get well cleaned to get rid of the smoke smell. Passenger tail light took some heat damage and passenger quarter window failed entierly, frame is ok but there's no 'glass' left.

Good luck with your sale. I don't think it will take long. Good thing I'm not closer.
I wish you well.

I wish I had the room over at my workshop to put this however I just picked up a silver 88 Formula the other day or I'd purchase it. Not sure what having it transported from you to me here in Elfers, FL 34680 would cost, since it just cost me $800 to get the silver one delivered from Chattanooga, TN or I'd be all over this. Have you contacted Pat Moody in Round Rock, TX as he may be interested. Thanks, and the best of luck with your sale.
