Looking for "turn signal cam" (Page 1/1)
Sage AUG 10, 12:16 PM
Anybody got one of these in good shape laying around, they're willing to part with?

Not sure why it's called what it is, as it seems to have at least as much to do with the horn than the turn signals, but whatever. Mine got buggered up by an overzealous helper who overtightened the steering wheel puller attachment bolts when removing the wheel.

Fiero Store doesn't offer them that I can find and they are available on ebay from different sources, but thought I'd see if anybody here had one not in use I could buy from them.

Supposedly the AC/DELCO part # is: ACDelco 26029510 but I can't "officially" verify that.

Thanks for looking.

They're available aftermarket from parts stores. It's the motormite or dorman brand.

Thanks Fiero_Adam.....I did find more than a few online, but most say "Out of stock"...or "Not available"...and the few that I found, were in the $25 - 30 range! That's why I put up this post.

I will probably just try to buy from the source you've listed, so I appreciate your input! Don't know why my "google search" didn't turn up that same link?

Thanks again.

HAGO!

Edit: Just tried to "Add to my cart" and after inputting the vehicle info...it says will not fit an 86' Fiero.....:-( the top side does look different, but not sure how that would affect function in this case. Anyone shed some light on why it won't fit an 86' Fiero?

That link is correct. It should fit fine. Don't worry about searching per vehicle. I can't find the thread but one member on here is using two of them on his cars with no issue.
Also there is a color difference where the green one is for non-tilt columns and the white one that is in the link is for tilt columns.

Yeah, forgot to mention when I clicked on the vehicle fitment, it doesn't show Fiero, for some reason. But it's the same steering column used in hundreds of gm vehicles.

Thanks guys....kinda what I figured. The only "difference" I can see from the pics is the one on the site looks like it has a different material (or at least color) on the top side. Not sure if it's an added layer of a different material, or if it's just a different color plastic. For $9 I'm gonna go ahead and order it anyway, even though I did "semi" repair the one that got tore up and have it installed in the column with no ill effects, that is, unless the shipping is equal to or more than the part! These days, you never know!

Reminds me of when I had my first Fiero, an 84' with the iron duke. When I bought it, there was no head on the engine, so I took it out and went about rebuilding the entire engine. When I had the head magnafluxed, the shop said it was cracked across the webbing between cylinders on all 4. So I looked for a different head. Found 4 or 5 in local scrapyards, ALL of them had the same issue. Found a head from I believe a 79' Monza with a different configuration on the chambers, but ALL the "books" and "experts" said it won't fit the engine.....BUT the part numbers for both the intake, exhaust and head gaskets were the same as for the 84' Duke head. So I got the Monza head home. Sure enough everything lined up the way it should, except the thermostat was on the wrong end, as well as one small freeze plug. Put a freeze plug where the thermostat housing was, removed the one on the other end of the head, stuck the housing in that end, but did have to grind a little of the boss around one bolt hole on the housing to make things fit. Put it all together and as far as I know, that head is still on that engine, as I sold the car after putting another 20,000 or so miles on with the head that didn't fit!

Well, if you're still reading, congratulations for not having ADD, and for adding a little useless trivia to your Fiero knowledge bank!

Thanks & HAGO!

Edit (again) to add....now it doesn't seem to want to let me "Add it to my cart"....hmmmmm.....also, looking at the blow up of the pics, it does appear the different color on the top side is an added piece, just don't know if would make any difference in the way it works, I would guess not....but won't know till I get one and put it in! Ok, just got it into my "cart"....then when completing the order...came to shipping....they want MORE to ship it than the part costs! $8.49 for the part...and over $9 to ship it to me. There are none of their stores close to me, so it's either pay the nearly $20 to get the $8.49 part to me, or look elsewhere.....If I end up actually HAVING to have it, guess $20 is cheap enough, seeing that some of the other sites I found it on, wanted between $20-$30 for the part alone, but as pointed out earlier, the majority said, "Out of stock" or "Not Available".
