WARNING!!! User Mencalico is a scammer! (Page 1/1)
Cliff Pennock SEP 04, 04:39 AM
If you have received a private message from Mencalico, claiming he knows someone who has the part you are looking for, do not send him or the guy he is referring to any money!

Moncalico is a "PM Scammer". He'll just browse The Mall in search of people who are looking for a part and PM them he "knows a guy who has it". Needless to say that once you part with your money, you'll never hear from them again.

I have banned him from the forum and will also notify the people he has PM'd.

I seem to remember Patrick calling this guy out for having another account…
Cliff Pennock SEP 04, 01:06 PM
Well, Patrick was the one who noticed some odd behavior and also noticed he was just copy pasting some old posts and presented them as new. Presumably because he was trying to gain some trust. Patrick gave me the heads up and I looked at his account and noticed he had sent quite a few people PMs, which is a huge red flag when a new member does this. So I actually took a look at the PMs he sent and they were all as described above.

It might be the same scammer who was active on PFF some time ago, or this might just be a new and popular way to scam people out of their money on forums.

I called him out initially because whatever he was trying to pull, I knew he was up to no good.

This same scammer has registered as mencalico at a bunch of online forums, all within the last few days. Too bad there isn't a way of kicking his ass.

The bastard claims he is from California. Might be easy to track down this criminal if we lure him into a trap. You could say I need to send you a money order for the part and need your address.

I wouldn't promote kicking his ass, due to the legal nature of ass kicking these days. However, I am not against mailing him a large cardboard box filled with Wisconsin's finest biodegradable glitter. It seems to deter future scamming.
