Glass Seals Wanted (Page 1/1)
Kern FEB 15, 04:48 PM
Hello All,

The car is a 1988 GT which is in for a complete repaint. The body shop has asked if I can source the glass seals for around the windshield and sunroof.

Can anyone help point me in the right direction?

Thank all in advance for any assistance.

The Fiero Store would be a good place to start looking.

My last windshield installed by a glass shop, was done after the original trim had been discontinued. They used a much wider trim that wrapped around the edge of the windshield. That was much easier for them to install than the original push in narrow trim that they hated. To them it was easier, but that wider trim looked like a mud flap!

I had a friend, who works in a high end body shop, install my windshield without any trim. I was motivated to have it done that way, because that is how the windshield is mounted in my Sky Red Line and many other cars. It is a very clean look, flush with the body and was a great improvement over what the glass companies "like" to use as a replacement for the original. It doesn't leak either.

If you elect to install the windshield without trim, you would want the body shop to remove the windshield before painting to get the body prepped and painted where the trim used to live.

If you are looking to keep it original, that will be difficult to do with parts available today.
