I am looking to buy a right side taillight cover for an 86 GT. Mine has a small crack in it.

Keep your eye on eBay too; a single GT / Fastback Taillight Lens Pop-Up Often.
Currently I saw a few Left / Driver's side lenses; only one 'okay' condition for the Right...------------------ Original Owner of a Silver '88 GT Under 'Production Refurbishment' @ 136k Miles

Depending on where the crack is located, this may be repairable. I do restorations for GT taillights and, more often than not, they have cracks in need of repair. It would be necessary to completely refinish the taillight, after repairing the crack, but I do it all the time.

This is the crack. Do you think you could repair this?

'Show Car' or Daily Driver?
To Me - YES for the latter as 'new' lens is ~$500 or up...
The Easy Way: remove the taillight assembly / Carefully Use Acrylic Cement which will 'weld' the cracks The key is 'Careful' as the cement is like 'water' and runs everywhere! Use a dropper and 'drop' the cement without any 'runs' {I repaired a small piece from a lens and the Acrylic Cement 'sealed' the hole.}
The Harder Way: Separate the lens from the housing and completely refinish both taillight lenes
How to : Seperate Fastback Tail Lights without damage https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum9/HTML/000042.html
EDIT - This is a link for gtoformula's restoration service:

Dan, Vintage-Nut covered your dilemma well in his reply. Unfortunately, the crack is in a very visible area of the lens. The sealer/glue will improve on the appearance of the crack, but will likely still show. In other words, it will look much better, but won't make it disappear.

Thought provoking thread.
Has anyone removed the outer lens and run it like that ?

Yes they have. It doesn't work very well due to fading and water. Something like this:

The funny part about this photo is that someone actually took a lot of time manually delaminating the center section from the clear portion and they managed to keep it intact.[This message has been edited by IMSA GT (edited 01-25-2025).]

I am not sure I can.
Keith Goodyear was selling GM approved lenses. Which is what I was wondering about. I have heard, here on the forum, that some inspection places would fail a Fiero because of cracks in the outer lenses. Even though the actual tail light lens was not damaged.
I was almost in on Keith's lenses but I prepaid for some Ms Lorie's GT quarter windows, which did not come to fruition. I don't mind as she needed development money and I wanted to help. I don't remember if I prepaid for pokie's same endeavor or not. Which did not come to fruition also.
Myself, mine are good. I also have an 86 GT parts car (because someday I may need many of it's parts one day for my 88GT T Top) the 86 with one good tail light, (the other not too bad).[This message has been edited by cliffw (edited 01-26-2025).]
