Is this car totaled ? (Page 1/4)

My sister's 2016 Honda Fit was t-boned yesterday, a lady ran a red light, all the air bags went off, she was pushed into another car. Every panel on the passenger has damage, the drivers side rear wheel is pushed back. The impact pushed the car up on the sidewalk three lanes over. The front frame is bent on both sides and the hood is bent rear bumper cover and broken taillight, rear hatch may have damage. The only body panel not damaged was the drivers rear door.

My sister is bruised up a bit, sore from the lap belts and the force of the collision & airbags

Do you think the repair amount will total out the car ? Kind of hoping so, the car would never be the same. It was owned outright.

1st view in the video shows what the car looked like before.

I think it probably is. Especially since the bags blew. Did the bags blow out the windows? If so, I'd almost bet money on it.

I hope your sister is okay.

Edit - I just reread your description and looked at the pics. If it's not done, I'll be amazed.

Thanks, yes she's okay. I added a video of the snap shots, gives a bit more detail view. Surprisingly none of the windows broke or cracked.

I just got a rebuilt 09 civic ex for 2800 with 54k ml
vs 8 or 9k without the hit history and blown bags poor repaint and bondo

so the cost of the fixed fit maybe not worth doing

but current car market is NUTS

If this was my car I would not accept a repair.
This sucks, they are never going to make this right, glad your sister wasn't seriously hurt in the accident.

2 - doors... used from a salvage yard
front fender... used from a salvage yard
frame straightener (damage doesn't look like it affects the suspension)
bumpers, new air bags
paint job...

Probably $6,500 in parts and labor... and the insurance company is allowed to use salvage parts.

With average mileage, the Honda Fit is probably worth about 15-17k right now. So yeah, they're probably going to fix it.

The price of the air bags will total a car these days. Especially if the seats and side curtain airbags went off.

Prepare for it to be totaled IMO.

BTW, like the music for the video lol. But no interior shots?

.

I think you are off by about $4,000 on that repair estimate.

Value?

Not mine, and certainly not the "at fault" insurance company. I think it is law.
