Just upgraded the monitor today too, got a 27" Porsche Design PD27S. Previously I was using an Apple Cinema Display 23" from 2008 in 1920x1200p, the new one is a27" 2K display at 2560x1440p, and barely fits on the desk with the scanner next to it.

Just tested out Forza Horizon 5 at full settings, and the system now draws 450 Watts while playing. Added bonus: I opened up some Excel spreadsheets for work, and there's SO much more working room now!

I'm going to have to upgrade eventually when Windows 11 becomes common, as the 7700K doesn't meet Microsoft's arbitrary minimum system requirements.

Nice build, clean, not overly obnoxious with the LED's...

Yeah that 3090 is a very snug fit..

Just out of curiosity, that 1080 TI card wouldn't happen to be sitting around collecting dust, would it?

I replaced the thermal compound and pads, and it's now in my little brother's PC.

Was that done out of any sense of necessity (ie GPU overheating), or was it done "just in case"?

Preventative maintenance, the old pads looked fine, but I figured while I was in there cleaning out the dust...

The 1080ti is still a beast, I built my previous computer in 2014, it’s on the same motherboard now but it’s gone from a 2500K and gtx 465s in SLI to a 3700k and the 1080ti. Upgraded gpu like 3 other times along the way and it’s still a rock solid computer. It can play AAA titles from 2019 and older in 4K with settings maxxed like 45-60 fps which is good for me.

New computer has a 11th gen intel and a 3090 though so I can play stuff like horizon. I use a 43” 4k tv as a computer monitor sitting like 4’ from it and it’s amazing. I wouldn’t ever want to go back to 30” or less lol.

But since I'm playing games with a headset anyways, that doesn't bother me at all.

This, my HS build in 2004 was watercooled and it was novel but complicated to service or upgrade. I got away from it and just slapped in a $20 zalman air cooler and used that for years. So easy just blasting everything with the air compressor to dust it. A watercooled bitcoin miner I built a couple years ago would clog with algae after just 6 months and it was annoying rebuilding it.
