What are you all doing to prepare for a possible recession? (Page 2/3)

Hoping its more of a virtual crash, (stock market).

But yep being prepared for disasters is something we should do always as best we can.

Per your note about water 82TA, If there is a drinkable water shortage a quick bet is filters IMO, portable ones. The other option is gathering / storing it, or at least preparing ways to do that.

Beware when researching this topic , that many sources are out to sell you something, and will use fear to do that.

Yeah the timing on this, combined with all other stuff going on stinks.

You always seem to have the right answer. This is what every man should be striving for.

Thanks MJ... I figured the United States could certainly manage to cover support, but I just always assume the Government can always manage to screw it up worse if given the chance.

By the way, I went to a cattle show (my first one) up here in Tampa... or, not really sure where I was... Lakeland I think? But it was during the Strawberry Festival. Lots of stuff I'd not heard before. They had kids walking around and presenting cows before a judge. One girl was like 7 years old, and she was walking a nearly-full sized cow into the center of the stadium. The judge was going on about "clean around the corners, nice wide shoulders, good looking heifer, nice confident walk in the rear..." hahah... I kept thinking to myself... Geico should do a commercial where one of these judges does a beauty pageant!

Thanks, I appreciate it. I'm lucky in that here in Florida, it rains basically every single day. Maybe not so much here in Tampa, but it does in South Florida... and to some extent up here. So during the rainy season, I can collect water in my water collection barrel. I don't even have it hooked up yet.. but I was planning on using it to water my plants and stuff (otherwise I have to use city water). So we'll see... I could easily do that.

I definitely should have a propane tank and a spare one.

One of my best friends, Jerry Lecatius at ABC Mustangs in Hayward was assembling Cobra kit cars, which were produced using the original drawings. The kits were built either in South Africa or Poland....All you had to do was supply your own engine/trans......

Sadly, I don't think he is doing them any longer......

If I was going that route, I would actually go for the Daytona coupe.....

On one of the GGF club trips we stopped at the Cobra Experience in Martinez...I thought it wasn't going to be much....Almost had a heart attack when I went inside. A real Daytona coupe, a real GT40 w/427, and an AC Ace which is the predecessor to the Cobra; They had found it in a field, abandoned.....

At one point they started the GT40- which had the "Bundle of snakes" headers......

If I had a place to work on it I would have ordered a Factory 5 already, the kits are not that bad and sourcing a drive train wouldn't be that hard to find. But I have no were to work on it.

My father and I built a garage from a kit....So my Fiero and CVX-20 jet boat had a safe place- plus ability to work on them out of the rain and hot sun. The kit was $4500 and the concrete foundation was $2600....That was back in 1999, so there may be some in-flat-shun....

We’ve toyed with timing the market. We have a bit of cash ready to throw in and feel the market is artificially inflated right now. It’s tough, because I’ve been thinking it for years, so we still continue to invest, but I keep a good chunk ready.

Other than that, honestly, we had the food to go a few months. We have plenty of money for emergencies. I don’t really know what else we would need to do. House is cheap, cars are cheap and unloadable, and we don’t have any debts or obligations otherwise.

That is awesome. The Cobra and Daytona are high on my list of great looking designs. I'd love to hear that sucker fire up too.

BAD idea. If things get REALLY bad and they know you have plenty of stuff...

All stocked up on ~3 months of food including military MRE's,
4 5 gallon water cans always full
Several fuel cans
Few rifles and hand guns, all loaded, and 1000 rounds of ammo of each caliber pre-loaded into magazines in ammo cans with rechargeable desiccant packs ready to go if things go really, REALLY south.

Paid off my student loans a few years ago, so unlike the Great Recession I don't have those hanging over my head anymore.

Also have everything important ready to go in 10 minutes if I need to leave.

Right now, just piling cash.
