Very impressive job, Hank. Did you have to do much excavating, or did you just build on the slope? Did you use the skid steer for digging/excavating with that bucket?

Due to site limitations excavation was done by hand. I dug about 18" below the low side grade of the slope to put in a crushed stone base and to have 1 to 1.5 blocks under grade, this give the wall "toes" to dig into the soil to keep it from heaving. Most of the fill for the area is 3/4" clean stone; luckly the soil I excavated was just enough for a top layer of about 8" of soil. With where the wall was built I needed to be very careful with the skid loader. when to the wall from below with material on the forks/bucket I was fine; but once I dumped the load the skid loader would roll backwards and I would be looking at the sky! I quickly learned to slowly pull back on one side of the steering controls to get perpendicular to the slope to tilt the loader back down.
I will say I have enjoyed the Bobcat. I need to change some of the drive motor hoses but it didn't need any mantaince during the project. It is nice having a old mechanical diesel loader with no turbo or computer....without being a equipment/diesel mechanic any DIY'er with basic knowledge can easily troublshoot this loader.
