I'm wired up now. Sending data from my spine to a smartphone looking thing that sends (Page 2/3)

I am not familiar with Parkinson's disease. I did just read up on it a little bit. They say the cause is unknown. Hard to treat an unknown, .

I also have not know anybody with it. How severe can it get ?

very. One of my old neighbors back in E Texas had it and shook so bad he spilled a skillet of bacon on his stove top burner and burned 1/2 the house down. He died from his injuries a few days later.
Mine is barely noticeable now.
But one can live out a normal life expectancy with it, assuming it doesn't get much worse.

I also didn't realize you were having to deal with pain like that.

Prayers your way. I hope the treatment continues to give you relief.

I was thinking about him but I thought it was cerebral palsy.

Wow, came into this late, but I hope things go well with you. Hope the tremor is an occassional thing, a minor case of essential tremor or just 'old wiring'....and not Parkinson's.

Have you ever seen this video?

The program I'm using cycles on and off. I think I've got about 8 programs with intensities higher can I can stand. Different programs affect different areas. The current one turns on for 24 seconds and off for 12. Makes my toes curl down when it's on. Doesn't make anything stand up, though. Works great. About 12 years with it. Eight years with the first one before batteries got weak. The new one is MRI compatible.

So far, I have not had to change anything on this one. It's a trial and as I said, they will do the wire pull on the 11th and we'll go from there. Abbott called already and will call again tomorrow. IF they need to change anything, they will instruct me what to do. This is what they sent home with me. No idea what the magnet does but I do know the ipod has the wrong date on it. August 24.

I have now. Things would have to get a lot worse for me to go that route in this state.

It's been so long that I don't remember what my temporary one looked like, but it or he didn't allow me to adjust it. My current controller looks exactly like my Samsung phone. Fits in my shirt pocket. The communicator is a bit smaller and only has a light and an on-off switch. No screen. I place it over the implanted device and my handheld adjusts the implant through the communicator. I can get some serious electric shock going if I crank it up enough.

Yep, I thought I had posted about it. It's really gotten so much worse in the last few months after spending nearly a year now trying to get in to see a neurosurgeon. Found one, came highly recommended from Texas Medical Center Houston tho I would have had to travel over to Bryan/College Station for surgery and recovery. He sees patients for evaluation tho in Temple so I made a painful trip over there. (I can't drive more than about 20 miles without having to stop, get out and walk around a bit)
(It's the reason I haven't bought a pickup yet. Figured no need if I can't drive it. 20 miles won't get me anywhere out here in Central Texas)
When I did see him , he came in after reviewing my imaging twice and talking to one of his fellow neurosurgeons by phone and gave me the bad news.

"I know you came in hoping for a surgical fix to this but you have so much wear and tear all up and down your spine and then, the damage at L-5/S1 with L5 slipping down off S1 well to be honest, I wouldn't even know where to start. I just don't know of any surgical remedy for your spine. You must have led a hell of a rough life Mr York".

But a fellow Marine over on Together We Served had this procedure done over a decade ago and swears by it. I looked into it, and a place in Killeen looked at me and said I was a good candidate for it, and I can already tell the difference this morning.

And I guess I may as well say it. Docs also think I am getting Parkinson's Disease. My hands quiver a good bit sometimes.

Ah man, I'm sorry MJ... hang in there... that sucks. I'm glad that the device is helping though. Is there medication for the Parkinsons that you can take to halt it now that you think you likely have early onset?
maryjane SEP 08, 07:18 PM
Yes, but not really started on it yet. Got to get thru this wiring trial 1st.
My 1st ever selfie...

You can barely see the lead thru the dressing center left. The rectangle lump on the right is battery and comm thingie.
All of that, will eventually go under my skin.
(yes, it's bleeding some..no biggie)
