Most people include their faces, so this is an interesting twist on a relatively new, and tiresome fad. (I don't know why these people seem to think other people want to see their ugly mugs.)

Don, are you able to lay on your back with that device in place?

Yes tho but I don't do it intentionally and haven't for over a year. Since the onset of my rt side sciatica, I have gone to bed on my left side. Most nights I twisted and turned so much in my sleep, trying to get comfortable, the covers would nearly be in knots come morning.
But, the device being there is not uncomfortable at all. They just want me not to do anything that might pull the leads loose from their perch up in T7or T8 (I forget exactly where they are) . Nothing much holding them in except tape.

The trial implant ended Monday when the girl without so much as a 'by your leave' yanked the leads out after simply saying "Take a deep breath and hold it".
As my father might have said; it hurt a right smart.
The back and sciatic pain returned yesterday morning with a vengeance, but for 5 days, I was 95% pain free.
I'll take it!
(I did NOT like going without a shower for 5 days tho..I smelled and felt pretty rank. )

Plan now is pre-op consult on Sept 21, then surgery with full sedation on Oct 3. It is to be a bit more invasive but if like last time, I'll hear the lady tell me she's giving me something to relax me, then next hearing her tell me I can get dressed.

Down side is my swimming days are over for this year. By the time the implant is done and I heal, he water will be too cold for this old man.

Hahah... oh man, that makes me hurt all over. So if I understand right, this was a success... and now they can do the full-implementation which should really improve your pain then?

As Val said to Burt, 'Well, alright, we have a plan!"

Whether it worked or not is totally a patient's decision, but based on my level of pain before, during and after the test/trial.
IMO, it was a great success.

But, there is every possibility the device won't/cant overcome every future pain problem if/when my spinal joints move again or more but the device does make it's own adjustments and can be manually electronically tweaked from outside.
Even during the trial, I could feel a distinct shock if I sneezed or coughed hard.

So will you be getting another one implanted soon?
maryjane SEP 22, 12:59 AM
Had my pre-op appointment today. Just discussed which side I wanted the control/transmitter implanted on, make sure I didn't drive myself there as I won't be able to drive myself
home, what kind of medications I'll be on afterward (Tramadol and hydrocodone) and how long recovery might take. The full deal implant will take place Oct 3.
Afterwards, no lifting, no twisting, no bending, no driving, no shower for at least 2 weeks. Also no nsaids of any kind, no supplements of any kind from now until 2 weeks afterward.
the usual stuff.
can't wait.

Did you ask about the ability to program custom "voltages, impulses, frequencies"?

Nope. I just wanna be able to drive more than anything. Need to go visit some friends that I have something in common with. If not for my wife and the dog (and doctors) I haven't had a face to face conversation with anyone for months, tho I'm surrounded by people. Everyone stays to themselves here in this subdivision, surrounded by 6' wooden privacy fences.

I felt that way during the height of the pandemic. I was grateful to have the cat!
