Well, there's always 2024. (Page 1/6)

I'm going to go ahead and call it. I think trump has betrayed Republicans to a point that isn't recoverable and he'll never have the respect of the Democrats. I think Trump has already lost the 2020 election. I've maintained he was a clown since the election and like many, admit I'd rather that clown than Hillary.

Just curious as to how this could be filled out with some specifics, about the various betrayals, from the OP or Original Poster's perspective.

2024... maybe one of the (Al) Gore children will be in the race.

Trump doesn't need the support or approval of either party to get re-elected, he just needs voters. He is, however, going to have to do a MUCH better job of 'draining the swamp' and living up to other campaign promises in order to have voter support.

The 2A is too big of an issue, what trump is currently proposing is absolutely going to hurt him in 2020 and I don't see him doing a 180 after making such public statements. I've been wrong before, I was convinced Hillary would win.

Congress still has to draft this stuff, and send it to him for signing. I don't think it'll happen.

With that said, I don't have a problem with persons under 21 not being able to buy ARs. I sometimes don't think that persons under 21 should be allowed to vote. Not that either would really make any difference.
Bumpstocks? They look like "fun" toys. I wouldn't mind having one. I'd probably use it a time or two, and waste a hell of a lot of ammo, then put it away. But I don't miss not having one.
Are hellfire adapters (spring triggers) outlawed? Different method. Same result.

Edit - I see that hellfire triggers are still apparently legal.

I think the damage is done, I don't think it matters at this point. This is way too close for comfort, and it goes beyond the 2A when the president openly admits he thinks due process exists if it doesn't come first.

Or he's simply sandbagging the Democrats.

It not like he's never done that before.

I've been wrong before, but I'm going to continue to be pessimistic.

I think ou are being realistic. Even if a ploy, Trump has damaged the 2a. He has also allowed social media to silence Conservatives. Destroying the 1st.

Would the founders allowed those who were loyal to the crown to own the town squares and allow only loyalist speech? No, and everyone knows it.

I had forgotten about that part of his comment(s). Yeah.
With that said, it's actually how it's done in some places, already. Happened to someone I (sort of) know, around here. Doesn't make it right, however. Just that it happened. I don't know the full story, however.
