2 feet shorter than a ranger? That's cute. Wonder what it wants to be when it grows up.

Shortage of names at Ford?

Interesting, well done history...

I think I actually remember owning a Levis Maverick with a 302 or something...wait, the Levis part may have been that Gremlin that gave me all the trouble!
The 302 Maverick I had was incredibly squirrely.
But thankfully, not for long!

At least that's how I remember it.
But then again, I hear I'm a stoner!

Eh, sounds about right...

Ford Maverick Truck? Might as well use the Pinto name again...

Ford Maverick Car had Many Problems is Why you never see them now.
Most Rotted w/ major Rust Problems in 5 to 7 years in any states w/ high road salt use or near ocean.
Front of car is worse w/ spring on top of UCA in basically "Strut towers" and rusted out top front and back metal holding them up.
Then the front "inner fender" is 2 plastic parts that rust out the fender inside out at the "pinch points" when plastic edge hit them. If you're missing the front plastic then you will have HL problems too.
72 and early has gas tank as trunk floor same as early Pinto and others.

And that's only a few highlights of the list of problems...
I had at least 5 because was so cheap to buy junk cars to keep 1 or 2 on the road. Even then by ~ '85 was hard to impossible to find in most junk yards.

A baby Ranger makes sense. There are more and more urban owners who might need the hauling capabilities (not capacities) of a pick up once in a while. Smaller and urban definitely go together. Look at the huge numbers of compact/sub-compact crossovers these days. Not sure the Maverick name makes as much sense as the Courier name on one of the teaser pics (which looks suprisingly similar to the Brazilian Ford Courier, imagine that). For those of us old enough to remember, the Courier was a decent mini (NOT mid size) pick up. (I think they called it a compact back then.) I'm all for it. I'd consider it depending on the price.

The only mini pickup I really remember was the little dodge thing (omni? ) from the 80s. My brother had one for a bit. He was always borrowing my f100.

My first car was a gold Mercury Comet GT(Ford Maverick by another name).....Great car- basically a shortened Mustang Chassis with 3-400 lbs less weight...Set mine up for handling- Although my 302 2 barrel/Auto beat a 1968 327/manual Camaro in drag race....

Later, I bought a Gold 2004 Ford Escape.......Which was sold in Europe as the Ford.........Maverick!

So I have owned TWO Gold Ford Mavericks by other names.......
