Looking for Bee Keepers in my area or at least someone to discuss options with.
Yeah, I know. I'm not likely to find anyone here but, if you don't ask, you'll never know.
Yeah, I'm talking about honey bees.

I used to keep bees at our old farm in Crestwood. Sold them when we moved to Shelbyville. One less thing I needed to move.

It can be a lot of work, depending how many colonies you keep. My sister and her husband had over 100 at one time and sold extracted honey and comb to a local honey processor for about 8 years until the varroa mite thing came along and USDA ordered his colonies destroyed.

Bee keeping will qualify as a property tax exemption in my state with a minimum of 5 acres and maximum of 20 acres.
Minimum of 6 colonies (hives) on first 5 acres.
For each additional 2.5 acres one additional hive is required.

Interesting information, thanks for providing it.

We're not interested in harvesting any honey. Only interested because we'd like to have the benefits of the pollination activities for her garden and flowering plants.
Hoping to get a local bee keeper to put one or two hives on or near my property.
