UHaul tracks moving trends. (Page 1/2)

But Why? Jobs, Climate, Cultural or Political reasons?

This is an interesting site to look at current moving trends in the US.. notice states run by the left occupy the bottom majority in the list while more conservative states are at the top. California is now the top exodus state..
https://www.uhaul.com/Artic...By-Migration-Growth/

People tend to move for two primary reasons, jobs and climate. I can't prove that cultural reasons spur moving but, they definitely play a role when considering a place to move to, as does climate. Economic issues also help drive mobility but that should fall under the jobs category IMO. I do find it interesting that left leaning states have been and continue to be leading the exodus. The concern is that those recipient state's current populations are not so interested in those movers bringing their attitudes to more conservative areas. A good example is Texas, Texas used to be a bright red state but, is gradually turning purple. Are the movers/shaker's and influx of aliens causing that color change? I don't think there's any question about that. Left leaning state governments tend to tax heavily and that may also be driving some folks away. YMMV
Edited: Oops, left out a consideration for housing or the price of homes. Another reason that people decide to move to other areas.

Jobs (well, retained income) are very closely tied to culture. The less left the culture is, the more of your own money you keep.

I would suggest to you that everything is tied to culture and culture is a direct result of everything we've been into.

Consider that before telling anyone what's on your mind.

I just saw your signature... I did my own map and noticed a trend... LOL... I'm missing the entire North West and North Central.

Well, I don't have any desire to visit the states not covered in the NE US. So, my map may never get fully filled in.

I think there's no particular motivation other than the fact that they need this information in order to better coordinate the move and transport of their vehicles and trailers to high-demand areas. So for example... they need a massive amount of trailers and trucks in California, since everyone is driving from there. In the end, they probably realize this data is exceptionally useful to the public, so they've shared it. Similar to how ADP shares their information on employment.

Maine is really fantastic. I love Acadia National Park, and pretty much the entire coastline. I also really like Massachusetts and Martha's Vineyard.

The why in my original post was not to do with UHaul and their tracking but, why are the people moving. I still believe jobs, cost of living and climate are the biggest reasons.
Reference the NE USA, I simply have no interest in visiting that area. Yeah, I have my reasons but, don't need to start any arguments or debates with folks from that area. If that's home for someone, more power to them. Just not somewhere I want to visit or spend my money. Same for CA.

Most of the very liberal people I know from the North East are moving down South because of politics, but they don't recognize it as such. Everyone sees things differently, and people are able to justify things to fit their world view. They (ultra-liberal) see the problems in New York city as being the fault of "bad people" who are leaving New York and resulting in a loss of income which results in increased crime, along with more black people being upset with police (and in many cases they believe being justified so). The shootings, and crime, they see as a result of "injustices" that occurred to these people before they were even born. Additionally, they see the lock-down measures, and businesses going out of business, as a necessary evil as a result of the pandemic. They are "unsure" really how they feel about masks and COVID right now, but trust their elected officials to make the right decision because they believe the elected officials have all the right information. They also believe generally that Democrats are not corrupt, and that corruption is unique to the Republican party... that when bad things happen as a result of Democrats, it's usually rare and often misunderstood. While all of them are leaving New York, they are doing so with the belief that the Democrat leadership is doing all the right things to help the poor and society be the best that it can... while somehow in their minds justifying that their leaving is because while they agree with everything, they just want something different right now. All of them fully intend to vote the very same way in Florida, as they have in the past in New York.

Precisely what I understand from my friends in Texas, Arizona, Colorado and a few other states. They are all saying Don't California their state.
Florida has a similar problem with northeasterners apparently.
