Taking a new GoldWing diecast apart and doing a color change. (Page 1/1)

I'm sharing a post that I made on a GoldWing forum. ( www.gl1800riders.com )

The Fiero community and the Goldwing community are much alike, as each members love their vehicles. Both offer help to fellow members and we all went bonkers when a diecast was created for each vehicle. We have a few PFF members that are on the goldwing forum.

After searching for many years, a new 2018 and up Diecast model is now hitting the market. The last goldwing diecast was from 2010

Colors offered, white, red & black Tour & bagger style are available from Welly.

Was disappointed that the color blue was not included by the diecast maker.

So I decided to create a blue version to match my ride. It was scary taking a new diecast apart with out breaking it.

Here's a short video showing the steps I took. Hope you enjoy.

Used a silver base coat, it covered like normal paint. The blue clear had to be sprayed lightly with many coats as it's like shooting clear. It will run quickly if applied to much at a time. I ended up giving it about 7 coats, each time the color was getting darker. I actually used up the whole can on the nine pieces.

It matches my ride pretty good.

Very cool and nice work.

I have a Valkyrie model I did my best to copy my real Valkyrie. But, I found some pin striping to use. DIdn't think I could apply paint nearly as well as you did. I got close.

Now you need to take the model out to the same spot as the picture of the motorcycle and using perspective see if you can get the pics identical with backgound and all.
