I-40 bridge at Memphis closed indefinitely due to 'crack' (Page 1/3)

I was still active duty USMC and stationed outside Memphis the year that bridge was opened.


48 years is not that old for a bridge, but lots of big loads have crossed it.

Yep, that crack/break just changed my proposed route for an upcoming ride this weekend. Thinking of totally bypassing the Memphis area due to what I think is going to be heavy use of the other roads/bridges in the Memphis area. Going to explore a bit of AR and MO just for fun.

While true, it just means a deviation in a few places, turn left (west) at Jackson, MS and see what's down that road.
Taking the Valkyrie Trike on this adventure, will be taking an extra fuel can along, (Just in case.)
