Former [Orange County] police chief, five others indicted on Capitol riot conspiracy charges

Magnified View

quote
Two Orange County extremists — a former police chief and his partner in organizing Stop the Steal rallies — have been indicted along with members of the Three Percenters militia for their roles in the Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection.

Alan Hostetter, former chief of the La Habra police department, faces charges along with fellow Californians Russell Taylor, Erik Scott Warner, Felipe Antonio “Tony” Martinez, Derek Kinnison and Ronald Mele on multiple counts. . . .

The grand jury indictment, unsealed Thursday, alleges the men conspired on social media prior to the riot — including on a Telegram channel dubbed California Patriots - Answer the Call Jan. 6 and via text messages — creating travel plans that included discussion of bringing weapons to the Capitol. On the day of the riot, they breached off-limits areas of the Capitol and encouraged others to do so as well, posting videos and pictures as they went, the indictment says. . . .

It's not known whether investigators are attaching any significance to the hypothesis that the former Orange County police chief and newly charged defendant's surname "Hostetter" is an anglicization from the well-known, Columbia University-affiliated, mid-20th century historian and author Richard Hofstadter (1916-1970) whose book tittles include The Paranoid Style in American Politics (1965) and American Violence (1970).

I see from your thread title and the titles of your usual cut & paste garbage that you have finally accepted the fact that there WASN'T a "insurrection" on January 6, 2021

There WAS an insurrection started BY DEMOCRATS on April 12, 1861

There were also violent RIOTS BY MARXIST / LEFTISTS in almost all major American cities throughout the entire summer of 2020 with hundreds of law enforcement officers and first responders injured and a few killed. There is BILLIONS of dollars in property damage and destruction to both government property and (mostly) private property.

Your fellow LEFTISTS also seized both government and private property and immediately declared themselves "autonomous zones" outside of the authority of local, state and federal government which is ACTUAL INSURRECTION

Maybe you could "deconstruct" those.

At the top, Alan Hostetter at a pro-Trump rally in Santa Ana, California (November 9, 2020.) Alan Hostetter, a former Orange County police chief, faces several criminal charges, including a charge of conspiracy, in connection with the events at the nation's capitol building on January 6, 2021.

At the bottom, Richard Hofstadter, at Columbia University, in an otherwise undated photo from the 1960s. A well-known, mid-20th century historian and writer, Richard Hofstadter's memorable essays include The Paranoid Style in American Politics (1965) and American Violence (1970.)

These photographs and captions were meant to be included with the Original Post, where the two men are connected because of the phonetic similarity of their surnames.

An interview with Sean Wilentz, archived in the Library of America and dated September 15, 2020--a kind of foreshadowing of the 2020 national and presidential election cycle that was about to come to a dramatic denouement in the months immediately following this interview.
