How to speak accurately about January 6. 'Civilian's Guide to INSURRECTION Legalese.' (Page 1/2)

"Everyone's talking about sedition, treason and conspiracy. Here's what these terms actually mean and how they've been enforced."

This is brief and very easy to read.

Print it out and carry it with you. Put it on a thumb drive. Set it up for instant access on your cell phone, so you can not just read but show them the Riot Act if you run into someone who calls it an "insurrection."

Speak this:

As of today, still NOT ONE PERSON has been charged with Insurrection as a result of the events of January 6, 2021

rinselberg this for me. If it is freedom of speech to burn the sacred American flag, why is not freedom of speech to "storm" the Capitol ?

You can talk about a lot of things (even write about them) but a drawn line is crossed if one actually acts in a violent way on those words especially if those actions cause property damage or physical harm.

You can think that way if you like. I would like to. I believe in treating people like I want to be treated. I also believe in obliging them.

Remember the "peaceful protests", with all the looting, the fires, attacks on law enforcement. That is not a question. A line was not crossed, .

As far as I am concerned, I like the Israel responses to the Palistine and Hamas terrorism, and act in kind.

Whataboutism abounds.

How many threads do we need on this same topic?

I see more people being drawn into the conversation in the last few days, and it seems to be a reaction to the New Topics (threads.)

That's the positive value of New Topics that are related to an already existing Topic, but take it in a different direction, or approach it from a different perspective.

"A bold taste of Trespass with a hint of Insurrection. Jan. 6 guy seeks House seat" and "The January 6 Capitol Riot investigation isn't over until The Fat Lady Sings" added comic relief to the mix.

"Morphology and Mereology of a Riot: Deconstructing the events of January 6." used the literary motif of surrealism to dismiss the seemingly pointless and pedantic arguments about whether or not it is permissible for journalists and others outside of the legal profession to refer to the events of January 6 as an "insurrection."

The "Don't start threads about other threads" admonition of the Posting Guidelines is about the kind of situation where a member (now banned) persisted in trying to revive the exact same argument after the forum's moderator had closed several previous threads that were all exactly about the same thing.

"Prove me wrong."
