ZZ Top Bassist Dusty Hill Dies at 72
| quote | Joseph “Dusty” Hill, ZZ Top’s bassist for more than 50 years, has died, the group’s longtime rep confirmed. No cause of death was cited.
The band’s Billy Gibbons and Frank Beard issued a statement:
“We are saddened by the news today that our Compadre, Dusty Hill, has passed away in his sleep at home in Houston, TX. We, along with legions of ZZ Top fans around the world, will miss your steadfast presence, your good nature and enduring commitment to providing that monumental bottom to the ‘Top’. We will forever be connected to that ‘Blues Shuffle in C.’
“You will be missed greatly, amigo.” |

I read this earlier. Sad.
Apparently he had something done to his hip, and was anticipating a quick recovery. Guess not.

A great guy from one of my favorite bands. I had 'Afterburner' and 'Eliminator' on cassette, and just about wore both out.

That little ol band from Texas just got smaller. Dusty was pretty much irreplaceable.

I watched a good documentary on ZZ TOP on Netflux awhile back.
Interesting history of some interesting guys.
I thought it was so ironic that Frank Beard was the only one without one.
The time on this "stage" is limited for all of us.
Mr. Hill spent his well.

Ron Popeil has died at age 86.
