Why dont all cell phones have this feature? (Page 1/2)

I get soooo many robo-calls and telemarketer calls on my cell phone that it makes me sick.
That being said, I can’t understand why no cell phone manufacturers offer an App/software tool that (when turned on) will cause the phone to IGNORE all calls (won’t ring) except for phone numbers in my address book? Another feature is that despite ignoring unknown numbers and not ringing, it will record/log the incoming phone numbers. (in case you need to sift through the missed calls for retrieval)

I understand not all people would want this tool but for those who only use their cell phones for “internal use mostly” (i.e. friends and family) this would be much handier than constantly blocking numbers of robots & telemarketers.

Your comments?

You can do this but there are a few steps depending on Android or IOS.

It's actually the opposite of what you think. You block ALL calls and whitelist your contact phone numbers.

In my case it’s an IPhone.
Thanks, Kit

Go to Settings - Phone - Turn on "Silence Unknown Callers". This will allow only your contacts to call you but unknown numbers will still go to voicemail.

The other option is:
Settings - Do Not Disturb - Turn on "Do not disturb". Then lower on the same page is the "Allow calls from". Choose who can call you.
Once you set up the "Do not disturb" parameters, you can easily turn it on and off by swiping upwards on your screen and turning on/off the moon icon:

Ok, thank you. 😃
I didn’t know my IPhone had this feature. (my bad)
I like the first option, however I need to seriously update my contact list before I turn it on.
Thank you! Kit

My only issue with the first option is that you will still get voicemail from the blocked number and it still shows as a missed call. If you are ok with that then by all means use the first option.

I’m ok with them leaving voicemail because only a small portion (maybe 25-30%) of telemarketers & robo calls leave a voicemail anyways and of those I can tell from the first 3 words out of their mouths if it’s friend or foe. ☺️
Thanks again, Kit

But wait, if you turn that on, how will they be able to contact you regarding your car’s extended warranty?

I need a way to block text messages from Hotmail email addresses. Yes that's right, texts from emails. It's always some scumbag trying to get me to click a link.
