Americans are creating their own vaccine mandates by cutting ties with the unvaccinated

Americans are creating their own COVID-19 vaccine mandates.
According to new data from The Harris Poll, at least 30% of Millennials or Gen Zers in the U.S. say they have cut ties with a friend, family member or acquaintance because they wouldn’t get the COVID-19 vaccine.

The poll, which was provided first to Axios, surveyed 1,334 U.S. adults in August 2021, and categorized them by generation.

The poll shows that 33% of millennials say they have cuts ties with somebody in their life over not getting vaccinated against COVID-19, compared with 30% of Gen Zers, 9% of Gen Xers and 7% of baby boomers.

“It’s the new cultural dividing line,” John Gerzema, CEO of The Harris Poll, told Axios.

Of all four generations surveyed, millennials are the group most likely to have younger children who are unvaccinated, which could contribute to the divide as parents may be concerned about the safety of their kids — none of the COVID-19 vaccines have been approved by the FDA for children under the age of 12 in the U.S.

In addition, older Americans tend to have a higher COVID-19 vaccination rate, which could contribute to the survey’s generational divide. Older Americans may know fewer unvaccinated people as 90.1% of Americans 65 and older have received at least one dose of the vaccine, compared with 59.7% of the overall U.S. population, according to the CDC’s COVID-19 vaccine tracker.

In the past few weeks, more employers announced plans to mandate COVID-19 vaccinations for workers who report to in-person offices. Employees can get shots developed by Pfizer with German partner BioNTech or Moderna or one shot of Johnson & Johnson’s single-dose vaccine.

Cases for the novel coronavirus continue to rise due to the highly transmissible Delta variant.

The survey comes as many U.S. cities are starting to roll out COVID-19 vaccination rules as cases in the hit a six-month high.

Interesting data (assuming it's accurate). While I and my wife are both vaccinated with the Moderna two "jab", I can honestly say that we have not cut ties with anyone vaccinated or not. I find it somewhat troubling that one would allow this to damage family ties. But, that's just me. I have been asked to not stop by a relative's home a while back because they had not been vaccinated so, I didn't but, based on the relationship with one half of that couple, I question their true reasons.

Yes folks, even in my blessed life, there are folks who disagree with my positions on some things. That's OK, everyone has a right to be wrong.

My wife told me to grow up. I told her to get out of my fort!

I thought I was wrong once, but I was mistaken !

That whole thing is a symptom of a MUCH larger societal problem. Millennials, Woke, Karens, Snowflakes. Whatever name you plaster on them, there is a LARGE group of people who think they run the show, and the world revolves around what THEY want or like. They just cant handle the idea that no they arent, no it doesn't, no they are not special, and no nobody really gives 2 craps if they are offffeeeeennnnnndddddeeeeedddddd.

I wouldn't cut ties with a friend, that's really silly..

But.. They aren't coming into my home around my family without the shot.

Well, maybe it's silly, maybe it's not.

If COVID (pick your flavor) is as advertised, hidden symptoms for 10 days to 2 weeks or around that and highly transmittable, your friend could be COVID infected and not know it or you could. Your friend really doesn't have to be around your family if, you are socializing with others. By socializing with those other friends, you could very well carry the COVID virus home and not know it.

Just playing Devil's Advocate here, I have not changed who I deal with or, what I do with the exception of wearing a mask when required and I don't like doing that but, if I chose to go somewhere and that somewhere says, wear a mask, it's their property/store/office. It's my choice to enter and their choice to put safety and health restrictions on those who enter their property. I can usually go somewhere else. Be safe and have a COVID free day.

Yeah well my social life isn't exactly thriving these days lol.. But i do have to deal with lots of people at work, and living here in Alabama, the large majority of them are not vaccinated, nor will they wear masks. So when i go home, i enter through the downstairs back door to the laundry room, then straight too the shower and clean off.. Best i can do..

Not much different in rural Mississippi. Well, except for coming through the back door. With the laundry room out on the front porch and the hose/shower off to the side by the mule shed, it's a quick naked run to the house and them dang skeeters are fast.

40% of Alabamians have taken the 1st shot. 41% of Tenneseans.

The US average is 51%. The highest is about 70% with states varying greatly.

Blacks aren't getting those experimental injections. Blacks are smarter than Whites.

I dont want injected people around me, shedding their Frankenstein proteins and variants, but there's no way of knowing which are and whicha aren't.

Sure there is, just ask to see their COVID Vaccination card.

BTW, I'm getting my Booster Shot in early September so you don't have to ask me. Guess I'm one of those dumb white folks.
Most of us Dummies carry it and are proud to show it off, just ask and you will receive.
Honestly, I never got the impression you were any race but, I guess you've just outed youself.
I started to correct your punctuation and grammar in the above quote but, I figured you were comfortable with it the way it was.

Or I could edit my post like you did. Wouldn't that give me a cheap feeling of superiority?
I post on a phone. And seeing just isnt what it use to be.
I'm one of the odd smart White people. Me and the Black folks will some of be the last people left.
