"Anthrax Confirmed in a Hardeman County Cow "

I don't know alot about Anthrax except its bad. (The band does have a few good songs though.)

How spreadable and risky is this? Does it happen often?

The Texas Animal Health Commission (TAHC) reported the confirmation of anthrax in a captive white-tailed deer herd on a Val Verde County premises on July 11, 2021.
The premises is located in the south central portion of the county, north of Comstock, and has been quarantined. TAHC rules require proper disposal of affected carcasses on the premises prior to release of the quarantine.
This is the first anthrax case in Texas this year."

I saw Anthrax last year. I didn't recognize most of what they played. I have Persistence of Time and The Sound of White Noise. They played 1 song from one of the albums.

Wow, it was 3 years ago. Time is getting out of control.

Anthrax is not conventionally contagious.

It is, however, a tier 1 agent due to it's potential for deliberate misuse. Naturally occurring anthrax - dangerous, but not massively so because it's highly localized and not conventionally "contagious", though an animal or person with anthrax could potentially be actively sporing. Weaponized anthrax - very dangerous, because it can be distributed in food, water, air, etc.

An N95 mask filters particulate small enough to stop anthrax, but you would also need to cover your eyes as they're a point of ingress, and you should probably protect your skin as it's bacterial and small particulates, so it could easily be missed during a cleanup. It's not highly contagious like a virus and doesn't mutate. Just a fairly scary bacteria.
