It's hard to imagine (at least for me) that being the victim of a knife attack and being hospitalized with status of "critical" would not be a life-changing event, even if the physical recovery from it is as best as can be. I'm not completely up to date on the status of the ones that were hospitalized.
I wonder if there will be changes in the law(s) there, in New Zealand, so that they are able to keep people like the now dead perpetrator in jail, or at least under house arrest, and not be letting them move freely around in society.

Unfortunately Bojangles also has sporks so that will add a few million pieces that require supervised disposal or special authorization to use them.

Is not new...
UK and some others already "ban" most knives and other pointy things after banning guns.
They claim US has a "Gun Problem" while ignore the "knife crime" problems they have Right Now.
London and other cities murder rates and crime rates are not lower then Many US cities.
And that's even before they push "Defund the Police" etc there.

For those who do not eat KFC, I can assure you their sporks are no where near that quality any more.
Last time few times I ate there, they were black and flimsy, with extra cutouts in the handle just to reduce the amount of material they were made from.
